On March 25, 2020, blogger Rolan Osmanov received a warning about the inadmissibility of extremist activities, which were expected between February 23 and 26. The warning stated that during this period, supporters of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, which is banned in Russia, plan to hold unauthorised mass events. Six years ago, on February 26, 2014, a large-scale rally was held near the Crimean parliament in Simferopol, which pro-Russian and pro-Ukrainian activists attended. The latter demanded not to allow consideration of the holding of a referendum on the status of Crimea, scheduled for the parliamentary session on that day.
