The Kirovsky District Court of Ufa has completed consideration of the lawsuits filed by the member of the Public Chamber of Russia Rostislav Murzagulov and the head of the administration of the head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Alexander Sidyakin against Radio Svoboda and the publisher of the Ufa-based portal ProUfu Raufa Rakhimova. On February 5, the court partially satisfied the plaintiffs’ claims. The court declared the information as defamatory, obliged the editorial office to remove the disputed quote and publish a refutation. As for compensation for moral damage, it was reduced by more than 12 times: both defendants must pay RUB 10,000 to each of the plaintiffs (a total of RUB 40,000). Also, the editorial board and Raufa Rakhimova must compensate the defendants’ expenses for the payment of the state duty.
