The Arbitration Court of Moscow began bankruptcy proceedings against the legal entity Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty at the demand of the tax service. At the beginning of March, the Federal Tax Service demanded that Radio Liberty be declared bankrupt. The Federal Tax Service explained its demand by the fact that Radio Liberty has «assets at the expense of which the bankruptcy proceedings can be paid for». The tax debt of Radio Liberty is more than RUB 7 million. The media corporation has been fined more than a billion rubles since 2021.
