On October 12, the Specialised Interdistrict Court on Administrative Offences of Almaty started consideration of the case on placement and distribution of false information in mass media (Part 1 of Article 456-2 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Kazakhstan). The charges were brought against the representative office of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Kazakhstan, which is represented in court by Radio Azattyq bureau chief Kasym Amanzhol. The applicant — resident of Shymkent city A. Turabayev — considered that in the article «Lawyer: prisoner Timur Danebayev is „temporarily“ transferred from Atbasar detention center to Kokshetau» (rus.azattyq.org, 19.09.2023) false information is contained in the phrase «Russia heads CSTO».
