Additional information:

Journalist Sergey Khazov-Сassia and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty are defendants in the case «for the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation against the mass media». The plaintiff is Kuban-based businessman Oleg Makarevich. In October 2016, the Radio Svoboda website published an article entitled «Peasants without Land», which described the controversial events taking place in the agrarian sector of the Krasnodar Krai, in particular the raiding of land. One of the central figures in the article is Oleg Makarevich, who believes that the journalist’s article provides the public with false information that can create an «opinion of him as a person involved in breaking the law». Besides, in the plaintiff’s opinion, the article published his personal data and his image, although he said in the lawsuit: «I did not give my consent to the processing and distribution». Makarevich demands that the article be removed immediately and that a refutation be posted.
