The Lefortovo District Court of Moscow granted the investigation's request for the arrest in absentia of former Mediazona publisher Pyotr Verzilov on charges of treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code). The exact charges against Verzilov are unknown. In 2024, searches were conducted in Russia in connection with his case. In November 2023, Petr Verzilov was sentenced in absentia to 8.5 years in prison in a case involving military “fakes.”
