On July 17, citizen Artur Alaverdyan filed a lawsuit in the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction against CJSC “Public Television of Armenia,” demanding a retraction of information considered defamatory and compensation in the amount of 6 million drams (over $15,000). The basis for the lawsuit was information broadcast on June 16 in the main edition of the Vesti program of the mentioned television company, according to which Artur Alaverdyan, together with the son-in-law of the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan — Mikael Minasyan — was engaged in money laundering, managing 22 percent of the shares of Rosneft-Armenia, allegedly obtained through criminal means, with a value of about $7 million. The case is currently under review.
