On August 8, the ruling Georgian Dream party filed an administrative lawsuit with the Georgian National Communications Commission against three opposition TV channels — Mtavari Arkhi, Pirveli, and Formula. The ruling party complains the TV channels aired political advertisements during the non-election period — June 23-25, 2022. The suit says the commercials «aimed to hinder the election of Georgian Dream party in the next elections» two years later (!). Opposition TV stations view the complaint as another attack on the critical media. Mtavari Arkhi lawyer Tamta Muradashvili expects the GNCC to decide that there has been a violation of law and «to carry out special punitive measures against the channel».
