On July 25, opposition figure Vazgen Galstanyan filed a lawsuit in the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction against Armenian Public Television journalist Petros Ghazaryan, demanding compensation of 2 million drams (over $5,000) for defamation and 1 million drams (over $2,500) for insult. The basis for the lawsuit was a post made by Petros Ghazaryan on his Facebook page on June 25, in which he described the activities of former opposition movement leader Vazgen Galstanyan—currently under arrest and also known as Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan—as terrorist, and claimed that “sacred terrorists received and continue to receive significant informational support.” The case is currently under review.
