Pavel Sofronov, editor-in-chief of AllRusNews, was fined a total of RUB 4,000 on two charges of abuse of the freedom of the media (Part 2.1 of Article 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation) for mentioning «foreign agent» organizations — the Memorial Human Rights Centre and OVD-Info — on his website without a label. Sofronov only learned of the fines from Roskomnadzor, which demanded that he pay them. Perovsky District Court of Moscow issued both decrees on fines, one on April 11 and the other on May 24 this year, each for RUB 2,000. The journalist believes that the fines are unlawful and does not intend to pay them.
