Unknown persons forged a card issued by a banking institution in the Republic of Moldova in the name of the investigative journalist Pavel Păduraru. The payment instrument was used in the summer of 2024 for illegal financial transactions. On November 29, the journalist filed a complaint with the Prosecutor General's Office, demanding that the criminals be identified and punished in accordance with the law. Pavel Păduraru believes that he was intentionally and maliciously involved in the scheme by some of the people targeted in his investigations, with the aim of defaming him and presenting him as part of an organised criminal group.
