Nikulin and his colleague, photojournalist Artyom Drachev, who covered the anti-war rally in Moscow on March 6, were fined RUB 10,000 under Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences for participating in an unauthorized action. When the journalists were detained, they were wearing press vests. Nikulin and Drachev spent six hours in police custody.
