Hrodna-based journalist Pavel Mazheika was detained when he came from Poland to visit his parents. The law enforcers searched Pavel’s apartment in Hrodna and his house in a village in the Hrodna region. Moreover, searches were conducted in the apartments of relatives and distant relatives of the journalist. At first, Mozheika was placed in the temporary detention center, then transferred to the primary detention center. It is known that a criminal case was brought against Pavel for exercising his freedom of expression, but there is no information about the article yet. In March 2023, it became known that Pavel Mazheika was detained for "facilitating extremist activities" (Art. 361-4 of the Criminal Code).
