Pavel Bannikov, editor-in-chief of Factcheck.kz, announced his forced resignation from the project after Russia passed laws criminalizing information about the invasion of Ukraine, which contradicts the version of the official authorities. «In connection with the changed legislation of Russia, where I am now, and of which my wife is a citizen, I am forced to leave the post of editor-in-chief of Factcheck.kz. At the editorial board, we decided that this was the only possible option – it was a question of the safety of my loved ones, my responsibility to them», – Bannikov wrote on Saturday in his Telegram channel.
