The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has opened a treason case (Article 275 of the Criminal Code) against Pavel Andreev, founder of the "7x7" publication and the independent cultural space Revolt Center in Syktyvkar. Investigators allege that since 2019 he has assisted foreign intelligence services in activities against Russia’s security in exchange for money. As part of the case, searches were carried out in 12 regions, including reports of raids and detentions targeting journalists and human rights defenders in Karelia, Mari El, Irkutsk, and Kaliningrad. Searches also took place at the Revolt Center and at employees’ homes. Andreev served as executive director of "7x7" from 2010 to 2022 before stepping down and handing the publication over to a new team. He currently lives abroad.
