The Belarusian KGB has designated the Media IQ media project — including its website and affiliated social media and messaging channels — as an “extremist formation”. In its decision, the KGB named the following individuals as a group of citizens allegedly carrying out “extremist activities” as part of Media IQ: Nadezhda Belokhvostik, Aleksei Khudanov, Darya Glukhova, Pavel Bykovsky, Elena Vereshchagina, Anton Saifulayev, Palina Pitkevich, Alla Sharko and Viktor Malishevsky. Under Belarusian law, any interaction with resources recognised as extremist formations entails criminal prosecution and may result in imprisonment of up to ten years for participation in an extremist formation or for assisting an extremist formation (Articles 361-1 and 361-4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).
