The chairman of the Kazakh Society of the Blind Almat Nauryzbayev filed a civil suit against Ratel.lz and Orda.kz to protect his honor, dignity, and business reputation. The reason was the publications about a peaceful rally for the rights of disabled people in Almaty, during which one of the organisers had accused the Kazakh Society of the Blind of corruption. The articles reported on this. The activists, to whose words the media had referred, were also named as defendants in the suit. The chairman of the Kazakh Society of the Blind is seeking to recover KZT 1,000,000 (about USD 2,000) jointly from the activists and media outlets.
