The panel of judges of the Supreme Court at the session made a final judgement on the case of the publicist, upheld the conviction and replaced his prison sentence with three years of probation. Olzhobai Shakir was detained in August 2023 and has been in pre-trial detention since then. The State Committee for National Security reported that Olzhobai posted on his social media pages "publications of a provocative nature, containing calls for active disobedience to the lawful demands of representatives of the authorities and mass riots". The publicist himself said that the criminal case against him was unfounded and he did not agree with the charges against him. Before his detention, Olzhobai Shakir said on his Facebook page that he intended to hold a rally against the transfer to Uzbekistan of four boarding houses on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul.
