On November 5, the trial of blogger Olimzhon Khaidarov was held. After a preliminary hearing, the prosecutor demanded 10 years of imprisonment, taking into account the charges under three articles. In addition to the charge under Paragraph B of Part 2 of Article 165 (extortion on a large scale), Khaidarov was charged under Paragraph A of Part 2 of the same article (extortion by a repeat or dangerous recidivist), as well as under Paragraph A of Part 3 of Article 139 (libel connected with accusations of committing a grave or especially grave offence) and Paragraph A of Part 3 of Article 140 (insult in connection with the performance by the victim of his official or civil duty) the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The head of the Kokand city administration, a police officer, and the head of the city market were recognised as victims. The judge rejected the request to allow audio and video recordings of the court sessions.
