Ratel.kz journalist Olga Voronko had complaint against her filed with the police. She learned about it from a call from G. Zhumabekova, an investigator at the Ekibastuz City Police Department who handles cases of grave and especially grave crimes. A pre-trial investigation was initiated under the article on violation of privacy and the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on personal data and its protection. It was initiated by a cattle rancher from the Bayanaul district accused of cattle theft, about whom Olga Voronko wrote. The publication, in which personal data was allegedly disclosed, was written on the basis of the facts set out in the official document. The pre-trial investigation was soon dropped for lack of corpus delicti.
