The Investigative Committee, on behalf of the head of the department, Alexander Bastrykin, opened a criminal investigation into the beating of Oleg Mukhin, the St. Petersburg-based journalist and urban conservationist. He was beaten on August 16 when he was trying to film the demolition in the yard of Saltykova’s mansion on Bolshaya Morskaya 51. The journalist was diagnosed with a head injury and is in the hospital. The case was opened on articles about battery (Article 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and unlawful confinement (Article 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
