It has become known that the personal details of Oleg Gruzdilovich, a journalist with Radio Liberty, have appeared in the wanted persons database of Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs. The reasons for the prosecution have not been disclosed. Being listed in this database means that the Belarusian citizen has been declared wanted in connection with the initiation of a criminal case. It is likely that Gruzdilovich was added to the Russian database at the request of the Belarusian authorities. Gruzdilovich has worked for the Belarusian service of Radio Liberty since the late 1990s. In 2021–2022, he spent ten months in a Belarusian prison for alleged participation in an unauthorised protest, which he had covered as a journalist. In 2021, the Belarusian authorities designated the national service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty as an extremist organisation.
