Abakan City Court fined Expert-Media LLC, which owns the online magazine Novy Fokus, RUB 450,000 under Article 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation for incitement to hatred. The media was fined for five materials published in 2018-2021. They included stories about the case of HSE student Yegor Zhukov, who was sentenced to a suspended sentence for YouTube videos after the 2019 protests, and about police officers not investigating a murder in Artemovsk, Krasnoyarsk Region. According to Federal Security Service experts, the publications form «intolerant attitudes» towards the security forces and «insult their public morals». Mikhail Afanasyev, editor-in-chief of Novy Fokus, is in pre-trial detention on the «military fakes» case (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
