Roskomnadzor has filed a lawsuit to withdraw the licence of the website Novaya Gazeta in St. Petersburg. Roskomnadzor said the reason for the lawsuit was that the newspaper had not been published for more than a year. The last publication on the website of Novaya Gazeta in St. Petersburg appeared on March 28, 2022. Also, according to Roskomnadzor, the charter of Novaya Gazeta in St. Petersburg does not meet the mandatory requirements in terms of amendments and additions to the charter of the editorial board, transfer of the right to the name of the media outlet, and the scope of the founder’s statement. In addition, the agency points out that Novaya Gazeta’s website cannot be accessed. On June 17, 2023, it was blocked in Russia.
