The Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta said its offices in Moscow had been targeted in a chemical attack, suggesting it may be connected to stories it has run about the Kremlin-linked mercenary group Wagner. Dmitry Muratov, its editor-in-chief, said law enforcement agencies were inspecting an unknown “substance spilt in front of the entrance” and that the odour was pungent enough to be detected down the street.
