On August 1, Nika Gvaramia, general director of the Mtavari Arkhi TV channel, published a document of the State Security Service of Georgia, which confirms that in 2020, opposition politicians, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and journalists were subjected to wiretapping without the prosecutor's approval. Giorgi Mgeladze, an investigative journalist of the Radio Tavisupleba, confirmed the contents of a phone conversation recorded by the State Security Service of Georgia on June 16, 2020, when he was gathering information about appointments of family members of state officials to various positions. Nino Gelashvili, the journalist of the Formula TV channel, also confirms the information from the State Security Service of Georgia report: she says she had a conversation with Natia Pavliashvili, head of the Presidential Administration, in summer 2020, and the content of the conversation was included in the State Security Service of Georgia report.
