The Tsentralny District Court of Novosibirsk arrested Salnikov on April 17. The journalist is accused of fraud on a particularly large scale (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). On August 12, the court changed the measure of restraint for the journalist from detention to house arrest. The journalist was forbidden to use the telephone and the Internet and to communicate with all the defendants in the case without the permission of the investigator. However, on August 21, the journalist was sent back to the pre-trial detention centre.
