On June 27, the court in Stepnogorsk passed a sentence on two residents of Bestobe — eco-activists Nikolay Katchiyev and Alexandra Nazarenko. Katchiyev and Nazarenko were found guilty of spreading deliberately false information about the activities of the Kazakhaltyn Technology processing plant and sentenced to one year of the restriction of freedom. In connection with the announced amnesty, the court released the eco-activists. The court imposed procedural costs on the state.
