The Russian Ministry of Justice added journalist, literary scholar, and historical memory expert Nikolai Epplé to its list of “foreign agents.” According to the Ministry of Justice, he disseminated false information about the actions of the Russian authorities, fake news “aimed at creating a negative image of the Russian military,” as well as materials from “foreign agents” and organisations recognised as “undesirable” in Russia.
