Nikita Telizhenko was detained by riot policemen on August 10 in the centre of Minsk while he was covering a peaceful protest against the results of the presidential election. He was taken to Moskovsky District Police Department, where he was beaten and held in inhuman conditions. He was drawn up a report for violation of the law on mass events (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus). After that, he was taken to the detention centre in Zhodzina (Minsk region). The journalist was released on August 12 and deported.
