Police detained journalists covering the student protest march in Minsk on September 1 (the protests in Belarus continue after the presidential election on August 9) and took them to the Oktyabrsky District police department «for a document check». The reporters were held there for 24 hours, had reports drawn up on them for violating the law on mass events (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus), and were transferred to the detention center on Akrestsina Street until the trial. On September 4, the court, having considered the cases of the detained journalists, recognized them as participants of unauthorized protest action and arrested them for three days.
