The Fifth Appeals Court in Novosibirsk ruled to confiscate 500,000 rubles (5,431 EUR) from journalist Nika Novak, who was sentenced to four years in prison for collaborating with Radio Liberty. The money was allegedly “earned through criminal means,” according to the court ruling. In addition, the court ordered Novak to pay the costs of the prosecution witnesses' travel to the court. In November 2024, Novak became the first person in Russia to be convicted of secretly collaborating with a foreign organisation (Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code).
