The Tbilisi City Court sentenced Nika Gvaramia, former Director General of the TV company Rustavi 2, now Director General of the opposition TV company Mtavari, to three years and six months in prison. He was taken into custody in the courtroom. Gvaramia was found guilty under Article 220 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (abuse of power). The investigation accused Gvaramia of largescale misappropriation of property rights owned by the private TV company Rustavi 2. He is being held on bail in the amount of GEL 40,000. In addition, he is prohibited from leaving the country.
