Police detained Deutsche Welle journalist Nick Connolly while he was covering a protest in Bangalore Square. Connolly was arrested, despite showing them his German passport, official accreditation and press vest. He was taken to a nearby police station and released five hours later, after the German ambassador’s arrival. According to Connolly, police forced him to unlock his phone and, in the presence of the ambassador, show them the photos he had taken.The journalist was threatened with arrest and confiscation of his equipment if he didn’t comply.
