In Russia, journalist Nicholas Connolly of the German media company DW (Deutsche Welle) has been arrested in absentia on charges of illegally crossing the Russian border. The corresponding decision was made by the Leninsky District Court of Kursk at the request of the regional border department of the FSB, according to a statement from the unified press service of the region’s judicial system on Wednesday, December 4. The journalist, who has been placed on the federal, interstate, and international wanted lists, has been charged in absentia under Part 3 of Article 322 of the Russian Criminal Code (illegal crossing of the state border of the Russian Federation). A preventive measure of detention has been imposed on him, to take effect from the moment of his arrest on Russian territory or his extradition.
