Following the publications of reports in Tengrinews.kz, Azattyq ruhy, Newtimes, and Liter referring to Astana TV on the rape of a 4-year-old girl, the Akmola Region Prosecutor’s Office published a clarification for the media. The prosecutor’s office warns of criminal liability for «disclosure of information that constitutes the secret of the preliminary investigation». «The videos disseminate confidential personal information about the young victim (photos are published, the girl’s name is voiced) and outline the circumstances of the criminal case under investigation», — the prosecutor’s office said in a statement. The fact of disclosure of confidential information was registered in the ledger of the district prosecutor’s office and the materials were sent to the police for a procedural decision.
