Additional information:
On June 7, the Kievsky District Court of Simferopol fined the legal entity of the Crimean Tatar newspaper Qırım RUB 300,000 under the administrative article on discrediting the Russian army (Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation). This was reported on Facebook by activist Elmaz Akimova with reference to lawyer Lilya Gemeji, who acted as a defence attorney in the case. A report on the newspaper was drawn up in mid-May, after law enforcers searched the editorial office, as well as the offices of Bekir Mamutov and Seyran Ibragimov — the editor-in-chief and founder of the newspaper. In addition to the defamation report, the newspaper was also charged with spreading «fakes» on socially important topics (Part 9 of Article 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation). The same two reports were also drawn up on Mamutov. The editorial board was prosecuted for publications on the newspaper’s website.
