REPUBLIC OF KARELIA - An arrest warrant has been issued for Karelian activist and journalist Natalya Sevyets-Yermovlina. She had already been under criminal investigation since October for failing to fulfil her obligations as a registered 'foreign agent'. Specifically, she had published posts which were not labelled as coming from a foreign agent, a contravention of Article 330.1 of the Russian Criminal Code. Sevyets-Yermolina left Russia in 2022, and was added to the list of “foreign agents” in April 2023. The Ministry of Justice commented that she was “openly advocating in favour of Ukraine” and was propagating "negative attitudes regarding military service” Sevyets-Ermolina has been repeatedly fined for violating the law on “foreign agents".
