The camera crew of the Khabar TV channel – journalists Samat Dzhakupov and Natalia Volkova and cameraman Tolegen Imanov – were attacked by security guards of the Dostyk Mall shopping and entertainment centre. The journalists were filming a story about the work of the ASHYQ project, a system that shows a person's COVID status. During the filming, they were approached by the administrators of the shopping centre. Journalists introduced themselves, showed their IDs, and explained the purpose of the filming. Nevertheless, the Dostyk Mall's senior security officer ordered his subordinates to kick the camera crew out, after which the guards attacked them. The journalists filed complaints with the police.
