On June 5, the Qashqadaryo-based media outlet Nasafnews.uz announced that it had stopped its activities. The head of the media outlet and author of the blog Captain Karimov, Umid Karimov, also announced that he would no longer run his blog. After that, bloggers Otabek Artikov and author of AvtoblogUz Maksud Muzaffarov, also based in the Qashqadaryo region, reported that they stopped their work. A few days ago, two of these bloggers were arrested in Shakhrisabz for five days for «petty hooliganizm», «failure to comply with the lawful demands of police officers», and other violations. This happened after a conflict with the leadership of the city’s department of internal affairs.
