The Xonqa District Criminal Court of the Khorezm region sentenced blogger Shabnam (Nafosat) Ollashukurova to three years of prison on two articles. She is forbidden to leave the Khorezm region, use means of communication and the Internet. According to the court’s decision, she was detained on March 14, 2023, in the Bagat district of the Khorezm region, and from March 16, she was under house arrest. She was charged under Part 2 of Article 139 (defamation in printed or otherwise reproduced form, including posted in the media or on the Internet), Paragraph A of Part 3 of Article 139 (defamation connected with accusation of committing a grave or especially grave offence) and Paragraph A of Part 3 of Article 140 (insult in connection with the performance by the victim of his official or civil duty) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In January, she published a video on her YouTube channel about the possible sexual, physical, and psychological abuse of a 6-year-old girl.
