In August 2020, YouTube blogger Murat Ovezov, who wrote the poem «The Bitter Truth» about the COVID-19 and quarantine, was sentenced to five years in prison in Turkmenistan. Ovezov was convicted under Article 228 of the Criminal Code of Turkmenistan «Fraud», but Turkmen.news source in the Dashoguz region reported that the real reason for the initiation of the criminal case was his YouTube videos.
