Since 21 January, Tajikistan’s state-owned TV channels have been showing during prime time on a daily basis a movie about Muhammadikboli Sadriddin claiming that he is a fraudster. The movie contains testimonies from several people whose money the journalist allegedly embezzled. It also features interviews with neighbours who speculate that they worked hard but could not afford to buy a house, as the journalist did. The entire film is based on speculation and assumptions of neighbours and alleged victims. The journalist is also accused of teaching young children of the Koran.
