Tajikistan authorities asked France to positively resolve the issue of extradition of Muhammadikboli Sadriddin who is accused in Tajikistan of fraud in a particularly large scale. On October 15, 2020, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Tajikistan reported that criminal proceedings had been initiated against Muhammadikboli Sadriddin under Art. 247, para. 4 of the Criminal Code (particularly large-scale fraud) and he is on the wanted list. The request was sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan based on the ruling of the Court of the Ismoyli Somoni district of Dushanbe. Radio Ozodi sources reported that a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had been under consideration by the French authorities for several months. Paris response to Dushanbe’s request is not yet available. Sadriddin himself, in a conversation with Radio Ozodi on June 12, called the request for his extradition politically motivated.
