The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation reported that a criminal case has been opened against the correspondents of the Australian TV channel ABC News Fletcher Yeung and Kathryn Diss. A criminal case has also been opened against freelancer Mircea Barbu, who cooperates with the Romanian media outlet HotNews. All three journalists are suspected of illegally crossing the state border in the Kursk region (Part 3 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federaton). On October 24, the Leninsky District Court of Kursk arrested Romanian journalist Mircea Barbu in absentia.
