The law enforcers came with a search to the home of the correspondent of Narodnaya Volya Mikhail Karnevich around 1 PM. They confiscated the journalist’s computer and smartphone. Afterwards, they offered him to go to the police station for a «short» questioning. As a result, an administrative report was drawn up on him for reposting in social networks. He was held at the police station until the evening, and by 10 PM he was placed in the temporary detention center. Karnevich was held there for three days before the trial. On January 24, the court, on the basis of a police report, found Karnevich guilty of distributing extremist materials (Part 2 of Article 19.11 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus) and fined him BYN 800. After the trial, Mikhail was released. The day before the search and detention, the journalist was finally able to obtain permission from local officials to visit a migration centre on the Belarus-Poland border to prepare material.
