On December 6, the Kirovsky District Court of Kemerovo satisfied the civil suit for protection of honour and dignity of traffic police officer Alexander Plaksin and Novokuznetsk judge Marina Yevdokimova against blogger Mikhail Alferov and recovered RUB 140,000 from the defendant. The reason for the lawsuit was a video clip in which Alferov claimed that Yevdokimova had ruled on Plaksin’s previous lawsuit in collusion with the plaintiff. Because of the same video, the blogger was charged with defamation of a judge (Part 1 of Article 298.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In addition, Alferov is accused of using violence against a representative of the authorities (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and incitement to hatred (Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Alferov has been under house arrest since August 2023.
