On June 16, a police officer of the Republic of Armenia used excessive force against Meri Manukyan, a correspondent for the news website "24news.am," who was covering a protest by residents of the village of Kasakh in the Kotayk region against changes to the local public transport route. When the journalist attempted to ask a question, the officer began yelling at her and then struck her with his elbow, forcing her to stop working. Within a few hours, the officer who had used violence against the media representative was dismissed from his position.
