In Almaty, participants in a protest which began due to an increase in the price of liquefied gas in Kazakhstan attacked a Mediazona correspondent behind the city akimat building. The correspondent was filming protesters hitting police cars behind the Almaty akimat. One of them hit the journalist on the arms and knocked out his phone, after which two more came and tried to take away his mobile phone, the screen of which eventually shattered. An unknown man was trying to talk people out of hitting the journalist and was saying: «Stop!». The journalist was ultimately let go, but one of the attackers shouted after him that he «remembered his face».
