On 8 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, filed a lawsuit with the Kotayk Regional Court of General Jurisdiction against Mediahub LLC and journalist Vahe Makaryan, seeking compensation for damage to his honour and dignity. The grounds for the claim were a piece published on 11 August on the news website Mediahub.am, owned by the aforementioned company, which alleged that the minister had failed to respond to journalists’ questions. “He behaves extremely rudely, tactlessly and even arrogantly towards (Armenian – ed.) journalists who try to obtain an interview or a comment, insulting them in the process, while being very polite towards Turkish and Azerbaijani journalists, almost like a modest bride or an obedient and submissive employee, if not to say an agent,” Makaryan wrote, describing the minister as ungrateful. The claim was accepted for proceedings on 19 September and is currently under consideration.
